If you’re familiar with Denver, then you’ve probably heard of the Golden Triangle. All those that are new to the area, though, will find this neighborhood between Speer Boulevard, Lincoln Street, and Colfax Avenue. Denver’s Golden Triangle is just south of Downtown, located right in the hustle and bustle of the city. But it maintains a close-knit, energetic community feel.
As one of the oldest neighborhoods in Denver, this area certainly has history. There is a multitude of single-family Victorians and bungalows built in the early nineteen hundreds. However, Golden Triangle has recently been undergoing a bit of a transformation. The area now has been building up newer condominiums and apartments being built up, and restoring and renovating older homes. The older supply stores, shops, and garages have been being turned into restaurants, galleries, boutiques and such. This part of Denver has completely changed its façade and embraced the new age.
With Denver’s Golden Triangle located so close to downtown, you can quickly get where you need to be in the city. However, if you want to stay within the neighborhood, you can easily do this as well; Golden Triangle is now home to many businesses, such as stores, restaurants, childcare centers, clubs, galleries, and theaters. Not to mention how many small, urban parks are being developed around the neighborhood.
Here’s just a short list of what you can find in the Golden Triangle:
- Denver Art Museum – Recently expanded, the museum has architecture that makes it a work of art in and of itself. The fabulous pieces of art stored within are definitely worth a look as well.
- Denver Public Library – Beautifully designed, this library is located in the Golden Triangle, drawing people from all over Denver in. It’s a rather convenient location for those that live in this neighborhood, too.
- Civic Center Park – This expansive park is one of the best in the city and located right at the top of the Golden Triangle. With the Greek Theatre, the Voorhies Monument, and more, there’s plenty to see. And with so much green space, there’s plenty of areas to relax, walk your dog, or have a picnic. Bracketed on either side by the Denver City and County Building and the Colorado State Capitol, the park is convenient for people interested in those two buildings.
- Restaurants – There’s really too many to name, with more popping up all the time. But some of the best eats can be found in the Golden Triangle. For example, you’ve got the Denver Pizza Company, Dozens, Charcoal Restaurant, and Fruition Restaurant. There are more places to eat then you have meals in a week, so you’ll never be wanting for a new place to try.
The Golden Triangle Has It All
With so much new to see, and so many historic places to explore, the Golden Triangle has it all. It’s a great place for single and newly-weds to meet new people and mingle, and also a great, established neighborhood to raise a family. While the cost of living isn’t terribly high, it’s important to keep in mind that the average price for a single-family home is around $660,000. The condos, lofts, and apartments sell and rent for less than that, but it really depends on what you’re looking for.
