We are very excited to host another local artist and this is indeed a great one! Join us on November 5th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at RE/MAX Uptown for a one of a kind social hour, and enjoy fine wines and hors d’oeuvres, with an exclusive view of Laura Guese’s large scale atmospheric oil paintings.
‘Crepuscule Impossible,’ or ‘Impossible Gloaming’ is an exhibition of paintings inspired by Laura Guese’s artist residency in Champagne, France. The softer light in France and the mostly rural, tranquil region of Champagne influenced this series of abstract cloud paintings. As an artist wishes to transport the viewer to a more peaceful dreamlike setting, away from worries and anxieties to a landscape of brilliance and promise.
Laura Guese is best known for her large-scale atmospheric paintings that reflect the emotional, therapeutic qualities of the sky. She has exhibited throughout the United States in solo and group exhibitions. Laura’s work can be found in public collections that include Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, Colorado, Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado, Oakbend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas, Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Hilton Hotels.
Laura was awarded artist residencies with the Ucross Foundation of Clearmont, Wyoming, Jentel Artist Residency Program of Banner, Wyoming, and Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts in Saratoga, Wyoming. Most recently, Laura was awarded a residency with Centre d’art CAMAC in Marnay-sur-seine, France, with a grant from the Foundation Ténot.
She has spent time painting in France, the Lesser Antilles, Mexico, North Carolina and the western United States. She received a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.A. in French from Saint Mary’s College of California. Laura was born in Denver, Colorado, where she currently lives and works.
